U-Pick Blueberries Near Albany & Saratoga Springs: Liberty Ridge Farm Is Your Summer Destination

There's something about picking your own blueberries on a cool morning before the heat that resets the whole day. It's slow, it's quiet and you leave with more blueberries than you know what to do with — which is exactly the right problem to have.

Liberty Ridge Farm in Schaghticoke, NY offers U-Pick blueberries from mid-July through early August, making it one of the most beloved blueberry picking destinations in the Capital Region for families near Albany, Saratoga Springs, Clifton Park, Troy, and beyond.

The farm's blueberry field is home to well-established 15-year-old blueberry bushes that produce abundant, beautiful berries at peak ripeness throughout the season. The field opens daily beginning July 11, from 8am to 2pm, which makes it a perfect morning activity that wraps up before the heat of the afternoon.

Here's how it works: park in the field on the right as you drive onto the farm, but before you go out there, head into the Market Barn. The team will get you set up with picking buckets and tips on finding the ripest berries. The key is to pick the fully blue ones, since they're the sweetest, and leave anything with pink or red for the next round. Blueberries are priced by the pound, and you pay for what you pick. Bring your own containers if you'd like to skip the plastic bags for transport.

If you'd rather not pick your own, the Market Barn also carries fresh pre-picked blueberries available for purchase, which is ideal if you're short on time or just want a fresh pint to snack on.

A few tips for a great picking morning: bring a water bottle, wear a hat and sunscreen, apply bug spray, and dress in layers since it can be cool early before it warms up. Restrooms are available on-site. The Market Barn is also stocked with home décor, toys, and souvenirs, so plan a few extra minutes to browse before heading home.

The season runs mid-July through early August, so the window is short and worth planning around. Check current field conditions and hours.
